The draft report of the Safer C7 Project was presented on 17 June to an advisory group of parish councils and other funding stakeholders.
This initial draft, by specialist transport planning, urban design and engineering consultants PJA, is available here. As well as traffic data, it includes an extensive analysis of the context, role and characteristics of the C7, the challenges faced by different categories of users and issues specific to communities along the route.
The report explains the principles of the approach recommended to achieve the shared goal of making the C7 road safer for all users. Suggested measures range from ‘decluttering’, creating a coherent sense of place for the corridor through the design of highway features such as crossing points and signage, lowering speed limits at key points along the route, and potentially reducing traffic volumes.
The report is expected to evolve further to take on board input arising from continuing discussions and technical work as well as from two forthcoming public consultation events, as follows:
