The Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club has issued an alert about another outbreak of blue green algae at Piddinghoe Pond. Parishioners will recognise this as a recurring problem during long spells of hot dry weather.
The NSSC advises the following precautions:
- Avoid going into the water – sailing should be okay but windsurfing and winging might be more of a risk as likely to be in the water.
- Wash hands before handling food and drinks
- Shower thoroughly after being on the water
- Keep dogs away from the water.
The Environment Agency has been notified and the water quality continues to be regularly monitored.
